Dr. KingSanders is in her fourth year at Austin Peay State University. She is committed
to ensuring Student Access and Success where students are rewarded with a high return
on investment when students complete their college degree.
Dr. KingSanders has a wealth of higher education experience to include prior appointments
as Associate Vice President for Student Success, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies,
as well as attaining tenure and the rank of full professor in the Music Department
at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.
In 2016, the National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience and Cengage Learning
presented Dr. KingSanders with its Outstanding First-Year Student Advocate award.
She also served as Principal Investigator on “Partnering for Student Success in South
Texas,” a $3.8 million Department of Education grant, and as Co-Principal Investigator
for a $2.625 Million Department of Education Grant, Integrating a Culture of Academic Research and Engagement, I-CARE.
Dr. KingSanders has presented her research at The Texas Higher Education Coordinating
Board, in partnership with National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development
(NISOD) Conference, AHE National Leadership Summit, the Advancement Via Individual
Determination (AVID) National Conference, and the Educational Policy Improvement Center.A
talented clarinetist, Dr. KingSanders earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University
of Illinois, her Master of Music from the University of North Texas and her Bachelor
of Music Education from Texas State University.
